People from different disciplines and cultures would have a different method of approach to the interface design. Due to the incompatible meaning of good and evil per person, the characteristics for the quality of interface design can not be determined.

The characteristics of interface design can not be defined in objective terms or criteria, therefore the results of the suitability-rating methods for the interface design could be different. This study investigates the relation between users characteristics and users' interface preferences.

 

Fully Personal Interface research is a survey, where people are questioned about their personal information and interface preferences. In this survey the answers are shown in the "Results" section. The criteria below are taken into consideration, in order to determine the characteristics of the users:

• Age, sex, location and other personal data
• Computer user profile (designer, coder, data operator, knowledge worker, entertainment users)
• Cognition type (the effective use of right and left brain)
• The interest in the new features
• Memory type (remembering the names, numbers, faces)
  

Answers of the users, to the questions about the criteria given above will be used as inputs to determine the user characteristics and they will be utilized as source data to modify the elements of the interface.

After determining the user characteristics, the interface preference of the user would be determined. Different inteface designs made for certain user groups with similar characteristics would increase the effectiveness of the user. The criteria below should be considered to determine the users interface preference.

As a result, this research can be used as a reference by interface designers and software developers to produce better work, which are more suitible for users' characteristics.

While we were developing the FullyPersonalInterface.com web site; Visual Ideology and Interface Research projects were analysed and interface preferences and user characteristics were combined by a similar approach of these sites.

This is the section where special questions are composed to analyse users' characteristics and user cognition which affects the users' interface preferences. In the survey section special questions are answered by the visitors to gather their personal information and interface preferences. After the user completes the survey, the answers are combined with the other users survey results. The general results can be reached from the Results Section.

 

This is the section produced by the answers given by the users. In this section, there are general results, charts and various tools (age, sex, geographical location... ). These tools can be used for in-depth analysis.

The purpose of this web site is to investigate the relation between users' characteristics and their interface preferences. So the Results Section is designed to enable detailed analysis of the users' needs from the survey data.
